My name is Ross Hartshorn, and I'm an independent software contractor in Austin, Texas. I have worked for over 16 years as a programmer, in a variety of industries. Here are some of the things I can help you with:

• You have an Excel spreadsheet that is too complex and too big, but your business has come to rely on it, and you need to turn it into a standalone program, but you don't know exactly how to do that or what to ask for.
• You have a lot of data for your business, but it has become difficult to get the information out of that data, that you need to run your business. Maybe you know exactly the data analysis you want done, or maybe you do not, but you know you need to have better data analysis than you have.
• You have a manual process which your employees have to follow to do the paperwork you need to run your business, but it takes too long and results in too many mistakes, and you need to automate it.
• You have a problem that will require programming help, you think, but you don't really know enough about programming to know exactly what to ask for, and you just need someone to help analyze your situation and figure out what kind of programmer you need.

However, here's some things I do NOT do.

• I've worked at startups, but I do not work for equity in place of wages, so I am probably not the right person to be a co-founder for your startup idea.
• I can make mobile-friendly web pages, but I am not primarily a mobile app programmer.
• I program in python, R, and a few other programming languages which are less well known. If you have an existing program in Java, C#, Ruby, etc. which you need work done on, we can talk, but it may be that I am not the person you're looking for (I may be able to help you find the right person, however).
